Hello Toggers!
The symphony of now
All too often when I’m out walking I see people walking past with earbuds in – perhaps in the midst of conversation with someone, perhaps listening to music or a podcast. Perhaps they see their walk as an opportunity to multitask but they are missing something special. The songs of the natural world.
There is a reason why every meditation app on the market is jam packed with nature sounds. These have been proven to decrease anxiety, kick start the parasympathetic nervous system (our rest & digest function), lower cortisol levels, reduce heart rates and aid the body into slipping into a sense of deep relaxation. For me it’s one of the highlights of time spent out walking – listening to the sounds of the natural world that accompany me.
So the next time you’re out for a walk, take time to listen to the sounds of where you are, the symphony of now – it’s a soundtrack that keep changing, keeps evolving, never heard the same way twice.
Take a hike around Haughmond Hill
With the school summer holidays now upon us, this week we’ve got a great family friendly hike for you – Haughmond Hill. It’s a short, circular walk through some beautiful woodland and offers wonderful views out across the Shropshire countryside. Close by is Love2Stay – a family friendly camping and glamping site that offers luxury as standard.
A weekend like no other
When did you last take a moment for yourself? All too often we’re busy with life, forgetting that we are human beings, not human doings. Our friend, the Eco Monkey, is offering you the chance to pause this autumn on a Well-being Weekend Retreat in Hampshire. You’ll get to delve into the Wim Hof Method – exploring the power of the breath, the cold and the mind, there’ll be forest bathing, nature connection, deep relaxation and time for reflection.
Four Things For You
Whether you’re heading out on a big adventure or simply taking a stroll through your local green space, I hope you find a little joy in the great outdoors this week. Enjoy every moment!
