Hello Toggers!

Walking with Romans
The return of the light
Have you noticed how much lighter it seems now in the late afternoons? After what feels like a long winter, the early signs of spring are starting to show through and the hope of the year ahead. Last weekend was Imbolc, the Gaelic festival that celebrates the start of spring and the return of the light on 1st February, positioned midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

As I walk through my local woodland there are snowdrops peaking through the earth – it’s one of those signs I look out for each year, knowing the spring is on the way. Elsewhere I’ve seen lots of daffodils (some have been out since December) – their yellow is like a splash of sunshine on grey day!

Discover Rutland

Romans, roses and poems
With Valentine’s day on the horizon, this week we’re walking with roses and poems (and some Romans) in Rutland. This walk is one of the Heritage Trails from Discover Rutland, exploring the country’s smallest county and one that is very close to my heart!

New series … coming soon!

New series … coming soon!
I’m so excited to share that I have a new series coming soon to ITV. The three part series follows my adventure of a lifetime to the frozen south, Antarctica last year. Make sure you’re following me on social media or keep an eye on The Outdoor Guide for details of when the series will air!

Nicky Bunce

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to the Destinations Travel Show in London last weekend – it was fantastic to meet so many of you! A big thank you goes to Nicky Bunce for bringing along this amazing penguin sculpture that she made – a perfect reminder of the penguins I saw on my Antarctica adventure! Whether you’re staying closer to home or venturing further afield – I wish you plenty of outdoor adventures in the weeks ahead!
