Falcon Manor Walking Breaks

Falcon Manor Walking Breaks

The Three Peaks walk traditionally starts at nearby Horton in Ribblesdale at the Pen-y-ghent Café, where walkers can clock-in and out to time their walk. This walk is for the very fit, but there are plenty of shorter walks in the area for walkers of all abilities. The Ingleton Waterfall Trail is a delightful walk and photographer’s dream with some of the best waterfalls in the UK, including Thornton Force. The Reginald Farrer woodland nature trail from Ingleborough Hall takes you to Ingleborough Cave past a wonderful collection of rhododendrons and wild flower meadows and under Thwaite Scars.

Then after a day exploring the great outdoors head back to Falcon Manor for a sumptuous meal and relaxing overnight stay in one of our boutique bedrooms, followed by a fabulous breakfast the following morning.

  • DB&B from £145 per couple
  • Full Yorkshire Breakfast

Fear in the Sunlight by Nicola Upson

Fear in the Sunlight by Nicola Upson

If, no, when you visit Snowdonia, you have to pay a visit to Portmeiron as it’s a very unique location for a wander and a novel!

In the novel, the writer, Josephine Tey, joins her friends in the holiday village of Portmeirion to celebrate her fortieth birthday. Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville, are there to sign a deal to film Josephine’s novel. However, tragedy strikes and a mystery ensues…

There’s some strong literary heritage here too – Portmeirion is a tourist village designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975. Apparently inspired by Portofino on the Italian Riviera. The village now is owned by a charitable trust.

Forestry England

Forest Friends

Forests care for us. Together we care for forests
For over 100 years, we have been growing, shaping and caring for over 1,500 of our nation’s forests for the benefit and enjoyment of all, for this generation and the next.

What we do
With your help and support, we care for more land and trees than any other organisation in England. Shaping landscapes for people, wildlife and timber. We’ve built over 1,800 miles of walking, running and cycling trails, supply England’s largest amount of sustainably-sourced timber, and conserve thousands of plant and animal species. We care for some of the country’s most important habitats, home to our rarest wildlife. We are recovering vital ecosystems and returning missing species to our landscapes.

Why we do it
Forests are vital for the future of our planet. They improve the health and wellbeing of everyone. With careful planning and expert management, our forests will continue to thrive. Forests store carbon, reduce flooding and provide people of all ages and abilities with fresh air and spaces to breathe. We are always thinking beyond today, planning and planting forests that will help create a sustainable future.
