Heel Happiness

Whether running, hiking, rambling, golfing, playing sports, on manoeuvres, or even just dog-walking or sightseeing, the Blis-Sox® range gives you great protection from blisters all day long. Wear them from the start of the day, or keep them to hand in case in case of discomfort. The Blis-Sox® range can be used to protect an existing blister, even if it has perforated, but bear in mind that they are not a medical dressing and should not be used on broken (i.e. bleeding) or infected skin.

Hiddensee by Gregory Maguire

Hiddensee by Gregory Maguire

Hiddensee imagines the backstory of the Nutcracker, revealing how this entrancing creature came to be carved and how he guided an ailing girl named Klara through a dreamy paradise on a Christmas Eve.

At the heart of Hoffmann’s mysterious tale hovers Godfather Drosselmeier– the ominous, canny, one-eyed toy maker made immortal by Petipa and Tchaikovsky’s fairy tale ballet– who presents the once and future Nutcracker to Klara, his goddaughter.

For readers of Paxman's “The English”, Bryson's “Notes on a Small Island” and Fox's “Watching the English”, this intriguing and witty book explains how our national characteristics – our sense of humour, our hobbies, our favourite foods and our behaviour with the opposite sex – are all defined by our nation's extraordinary geography, geology, climate and weather …
