Izaak Walton Hotel – Conferences
We have 5 meeting rooms which can accommodate between 6 and 30 delegates in a boardroom style layout, with our largest room able to seat up to 130 delegates for a conference, or guests for a banquet.
Our hotel also lends itself ideally to training sessions with a motivational aspect. The surrounding hills, valley and the River Dove are the perfect setting for team building exercises. Activities can be arranged at nearby venues.
Izaak Walton Hotel – Dog Friendly
The Izaak Walton Hotel welcomes guests with well-behaved dogs in the Courtyard bedrooms ONLY and the rear of the Dovedale Bar (first door on the right as you enter from the courtyard).
The Courtyard rooms are particularly good for pet owners as these rooms have individual car parking next to the rooms and direct access outside. We do ask for a dog disclaimer form to be completed at the time of check in.
Please note if you wish to bring your dog, this MUST be specified at the time of booking. Failure to do so may mean a dog friendly room is not available upon your arrival!
Izaak Walton Hotel – Dovedale Bar
Open to both Residents and Non-Residents alike, our Dovedale Bar is a very traditional bar with small low windows, beams and stonework. It has a warm and cosy atmosphere and is a lovely place to enjoy a pint, partake in a pre-dinner drink or simply relax with a good book.
We have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages available, including locally produced ale and we also offer a range of non-alcoholic beverages too.
The Bar also serves breakfast, cream teas, light lunches, bar snacks, evening meals and Sunday lunches.
Izaak Walton Hotel – Electric Vehicle Charging
The Izaak Walton Hotel is pleased to be able to offer 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points which are completely free to use for anybody visiting the hotel.
Electric car owners will be able to recharge their vehicles at any time of day or night using one of our 2 chargers. We have one ‘Fast’, 32A Type 2 Socket and one ‘Slow’ 13A socket. The charging points can be found in the rear courtyard of the hotel behind the Dovedale Bar.
Charging car batteries can take anything up to three hours to charge depending on the service available and your car battery.

The Haddon Restaurant and its chef, Simon Harrison, is the pride of The Izaak Walton Hotel and is recommended as a top fine dining restaurant in Derbyshire, having been awarded 2 AA Rosettes. With breath taking views of the Dovedale Valley and creative interpretations on traditional dishes, the Haddon Restaurant is the place to dine in style.
All of our dishes are created using locally sourced ingredients, as we believe it is important to support the local businesses around the Dovedale area. The service is attentive and knowledgeable and the dishes are enhanced with an excellent selection of fine wines from respected worldwide vineyards.
Izaak Walton Hotel – Rooms
The Izaak Walton Hotel has thirty-eight well-appointed and mostly spacious bedrooms, many of which have views of the beautiful Dovedale Valley or the hotel’s own gardens.
All of the hotel’s bedrooms are en-suite with both a shower and a bath and are individually decorated to ensure your stay with us is memorable and many of our rooms have recently had a sympathetic refurbishment and we plan to continue with these works as and when to maximise our guest’s comfort.
Izaak Walton Hotel – Things to Do
The Izaak Walton Hotel offers the perfect base to explore. The hotel is located at the foot of Thorpe Cloud and just a few minutes’ walk to the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones.
Being located in the Peak District means there are many more beautiful walks and spectacular cycling routes starting at, or close to the hotel. There are also many museums, halls and country houses, golf courses, parks, caverns and plenty of other outdoor activities all within easy reach of the hotel.
Guest are also able to take advantage of the peace and tranquillity of our 3 mile stretch of the River Dove by purchasing a fishing pass from reception which will entitle you to a days fishing.
The Dovedale Stepping Stones have been closed following storm damage. Please follow local signs. For those wishing to cross the river – please use the bridge that is a few hundred metres downstream from the stones.

The Izaak Walton Hotel can offer you and your guests beautiful scenery and views of outstanding natural beauty for those all important pictures.
The hotel is well equipped for any size of wedding you require and has a licensed room for civil ceremonies overlooking the spectacular Dovedale Valley with a choice of rooms for your reception which can hold up to 120 guests.
If you are thinking of hosting a function for over 120 people, we can offer the option of a marquee or tipi tent on the front lawn for an additional cost. Alternatively, for a truly breath-taking setting why not have your ceremony in our fully licensed outdoor pavilion.

Lightweight insulation for demanding hiking trips: The ZENON provides warmth at a minimal weight. This is because the fill of this hybrid jacket is predominantly high-grade duck down with good lofting capability. For areas such as the shoulders, sleeves and hood we have opted for robust FIBERCLOUD synthetic fibre fill. It retains its insulation performance even when damp or when pressure is exerted on it. The STORMLOCK outer fabric also gives you good protection from the wind. When not required, simply stash the jacket in its stuff sack and drop it in your backpack. Due to the lightweight materials the ZENON takes up very little space, which makes it a practical insulation option when you are on the move.
